What type of ultrasounds do you offer?

We offer a range of exams! Medical ultrasounds that your doctor may order such as- Abdomen, Gallbladder, Thyroid, Kidney, Pelvic, Transvaginal, Small Parts, Aorta.

We specialize in pregnancy ultrasounds- diagnostic and elective.

We do not offer breast, heart, and vascular ultrasounds.

Where are you located?

This is such a good question as we are inside Alpha and Omega Chiropractic. You will see their sign in the yard. I have an office inside of this building- it looks like a yellow house on the outside on the corner of Pecan St. and Elm St. You will enter the building from Pecan St. and come up the ramp!

Are your exams sent to a Radiologist?

Yes! We use a Texas-based Board Certified Radiology Group with a quick turnaround time. We make sure these reports are as detailed as possible. We accept STAT orders and the read time is less than an hour for those high priority exams. We require orders for all diagnostic ultrasounds.

Do you accept walk-ins?

Currently we operate by appointment only. If you don’t see an earlier appointment on the books for the day you like, please call or text us as we may be at the office and can squeeze you in! Our website automatically books 2 hours out, so go ahead and reach out to us to check real time availability. We are hoping in the future to be able to accept walk-ins!

Can I use my health insurance?

At this time we do not accept insurance. We do however accept HSA/FSA accounts and offer SuperBills for you to submit to your insurance company. All studies & packages are self pay and due at the time of service.

Pregnancy Confirmation

You will book an early elective ultrasound and let us know at your appointment that you need a document for proof of pregnancy for health insurance purposes. We require that you are 6 weeks to obtain a pregnancy confirmation ultrasound.

Can I come to you for an ultrasound if I already have an OBGYN or Midwife?

Yes! We accept all orders from outside providers. Remember, you are paying for these providers and these services and you as a patient have a right to choose who you want to go to for ultrasounds.

Do you have a guest limit?

No.We welcome anyone and even children! There is even a playroom outside of our door that the kids are more than welcome to use. Our scanning room is not huge, but we can fit up to 10 people standing. The more the merrier!

What is included in the pregnancy ultrasound?

Every pregnancy ultrasound we measure the baby and the heartrate and you get the traditional black and white strip of photos at the end. If you have purchased a 3D/4D package, you will get an additional set of colored prints that are 4x6inches.

Do you offer transvaginal ultrasound for early pregnancy?

Yes we do. We have the option for transvaginal imaging, but there is an upcharge to this because of the extra supplies and disinfectant we use to sterilize the probe.

What is placenta encapsulation?

Maternal Placentophagy is the postpartum consumption of the placenta by the mother. The idea behind consuming your placenta goes back to the early 1900’s in Traditional Chinese Medicine.

In the 1970’s earliest North American literature reported that since virtually all other mammalian mothers consume the placenta, that it is a natural behavior that must be beneficial and therefore, should be incorporated into the birth process.

A recent study was done of 189 birth mothers, surveyed their self-motivations and experiences.

40% Improved Mood, 7% Alleviated Bleeding,

15% Improved Lactation, 26% Increased Energy

These findings were from women who consumed dehydrated, cooked placenta in capsule form.

Beneficial Minerals in Placenta:

Iron- restoring hemoglobin, blood levels, help fatigue and symptoms of depression

Copper- helps absorb iron, strengthens immune system, anti-inflammatory, thyroid support

Selenium- protects cells from radical damage & aids in uterine recovery

Zinc- antioxidant, hormone balance, anti-inflammatory agent, immune support, increased energy, wound healing/muscle growth and repair

Beneficial Hormones in placenta:

Oxytocin- Primary birth hormone, love hormone, stimulates uterus, aids in lactation, promotes bonding, reduces/prevents third stage hemorrhage

Progesterone (postpartum)- gives mental clarity, reduces anxiety, boosts energy & regulates immune system function

Prostaglandin- the healing hormone, hemorrhage prevention, important for uterine activity, regulate inflammation, regulate hormones, controls cell growth, produces fever response to infections in the body, promotes cell regeneration, promotes uterine contractions, minimizes nipple soreness from nursing

Estrogen- anti-inflammatory, helps heal, mobilizes white blood cells to fight infection, regulates menstrual cycle & reproductive system. The more estrogen reported the less reported mood disruptions like Postpartum depression and PMS

Corticotropin- helps one handle extreme amounts of stress, reduces brain fog

Prolactin- milk hormone, regulates immune system, supports reproductive system, metabolic influence, behavioral influence. When consumed it stimulates body to make more of itself.

Human Placental Lactogen- stimulates the productions of prolactin thus increasing breast milk production. Plays a vital role in blood sugars

Endorphins- Natural pain relief, found in high concentrate, gives good perspective

Placenta Opioid Enhancing Factor (POEF)- creates a greater bonding experience, allows clear thinking, promotes rest, and focus on baby, decreases PP pain. Mom’s need less pain meds if she consumes her placenta- she will then receive POEF.

Serotonin- Creates balance, promotes exercise and cleaner diet. Plays a key role in body functions as mood, sleep, digestion, nausea, wound healing, bone health, blood clotting, & sexual desire.
